Use-after-free vulnerability in libxml2 through 2.9.4, as used in Google Chrome before 52.0.2743.82, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via vectors related to the XPointer range-to function.
CVE-2016-3627 7 Canonical, Debian, Hp and 4 more 15 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Icewall Federation Agent and 12 more 2025-12-04 7.5 High
The xmlStringGetNodeList function in tree.c in libxml2 2.9.3 and earlier, when used in recovery mode, allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite recursion, stack consumption, and application crash) via a crafted XML document.
CVE-2016-9318 4 Canonical, Redhat, Xmlsec Project and 1 more 4 Ubuntu Linux, Jboss Core Services, Xmlsec and 1 more 2025-12-04 5.5 Medium
libxml2 2.9.4 and earlier, as used in XMLSec 1.2.23 and earlier and other products, does not offer a flag directly indicating that the current document may be read but other files may not be opened, which makes it easier for remote attackers to conduct XML External Entity (XXE) attacks via a crafted document.
CVE-2017-16932 1 Xmlsoft 1 Libxml2 2025-12-04 7.5 High
parser.c in libxml2 before 2.9.5 does not prevent infinite recursion in parameter entities.
CVE-2017-7375 3 Debian, Google, Xmlsoft 3 Debian Linux, Android, Libxml2 2025-12-03 9.8 Critical
A flaw in libxml2 allows remote XML entity inclusion with default parser flags (i.e., when the caller did not request entity substitution, DTD validation, external DTD subset loading, or default DTD attributes). Depending on the context, this may expose a higher-risk attack surface in libxml2 not usually reachable with default parser flags, and expose content from local files, HTTP, or FTP servers (which might be otherwise unreachable).
CVE-2017-5130 4 Debian, Google, Redhat and 1 more 4 Debian Linux, Chrome, Rhel Extras and 1 more 2025-12-03 8.8 High
An integer overflow in xmlmemory.c in libxml2 before 2.9.5, as used in Google Chrome prior to 62.0.3202.62 and other products, allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted XML file.
CVE-2018-14404 4 Canonical, Debian, Redhat and 1 more 6 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Ansible Tower and 3 more 2025-12-03 6.5 Medium
A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability exists in the xpath.c:xmlXPathCompOpEval() function of libxml2 through 2.9.8 when parsing an invalid XPath expression in the XPATH_OP_AND or XPATH_OP_OR case. Applications processing untrusted XSL format inputs with the use of the libxml2 library may be vulnerable to a denial of service attack due to a crash of the application.
CVE-2019-19956 8 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 5 more 15 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 12 more 2025-12-03 7.5 High
xmlParseBalancedChunkMemoryRecover in parser.c in libxml2 before 2.9.10 has a memory leak related to newDoc->oldNs.
CVE-2020-7595 8 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 5 more 35 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 32 more 2025-12-03 7.5 High
xmlStringLenDecodeEntities in parser.c in libxml2 2.9.10 has an infinite loop in a certain end-of-file situation.
CVE-2021-3517 6 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 3 more 30 Debian Linux, Fedora, Active Iq Unified Manager and 27 more 2025-12-02 8.6 High
There is a flaw in the xml entity encoding functionality of libxml2 in versions before 2.9.11. An attacker who is able to supply a crafted file to be processed by an application linked with the affected functionality of libxml2 could trigger an out-of-bounds read. The most likely impact of this flaw is to application availability, with some potential impact to confidentiality and integrity if an attacker is able to use memory information to further exploit the application.
CVE-2025-6021 2 Redhat, Xmlsoft 29 Discovery, Enterprise Linux, Enterprise Linux Eus and 26 more 2025-11-29 7.5 High
A flaw was found in libxml2's xmlBuildQName function, where integer overflows in buffer size calculations can lead to a stack-based buffer overflow. This issue can result in memory corruption or a denial of service when processing crafted input.
CVE-2024-40896 3 Netapp, Redhat, Xmlsoft 15 H300s, H300s Firmware, H410c and 12 more 2025-11-25 9.1 Critical
In libxml2 2.11 before 2.11.9, 2.12 before 2.12.9, and 2.13 before 2.13.3, the SAX parser can produce events for external entities even if custom SAX handlers try to override entity content (by setting "checked"). This makes classic XXE attacks possible.
CVE-2025-6170 2 Redhat, Xmlsoft 5 Enterprise Linux, Jboss Core Services, Openshift and 2 more 2025-11-07 2.5 Low
A flaw was found in the interactive shell of the xmllint command-line tool, used for parsing XML files. When a user inputs an overly long command, the program does not check the input size properly, which can cause it to crash. This issue might allow attackers to run harmful code in rare configurations without modern protections.
CVE-2024-34459 1 Xmlsoft 2 Libxml2, Xmllint 2025-11-04 7.5 High
An issue was discovered in xmllint (from libxml2) before 2.11.8 and 2.12.x before 2.12.7. Formatting error messages with xmllint --htmlout can result in a buffer over-read in xmlHTMLPrintFileContext in xmllint.c.
CVE-2022-2309 4 Fedoraproject, Lxml, Redhat and 1 more 4 Fedora, Lxml, Enterprise Linux and 1 more 2025-11-04 7.5 High
NULL Pointer Dereference allows attackers to cause a denial of service (or application crash). This only applies when lxml is used together with libxml2 2.9.10 through 2.9.14. libxml2 2.9.9 and earlier are not affected. It allows triggering crashes through forged input data, given a vulnerable code sequence in the application. The vulnerability is caused by the iterwalk function (also used by the canonicalize function). Such code shouldn't be in wide-spread use, given that parsing + iterwalk would usually be replaced with the more efficient iterparse function. However, an XML converter that serialises to C14N would also be vulnerable, for example, and there are legitimate use cases for this code sequence. If untrusted input is received (also remotely) and processed via iterwalk function, a crash can be triggered.
CVE-2016-3709 2 Redhat, Xmlsoft 3 Enterprise Linux, Rhel Eus, Libxml2 2025-11-04 6.1 Medium
Possible cross-site scripting vulnerability in libxml after commit 960f0e2.
CVE-2025-27113 1 Xmlsoft 1 Libxml2 2025-11-03 2.9 Low
libxml2 before 2.12.10 and 2.13.x before 2.13.6 has a NULL pointer dereference in xmlPatMatch in pattern.c.
CVE-2025-24928 3 Netapp, Redhat, Xmlsoft 28 Active Iq Unified Manager, H300s, H300s Firmware and 25 more 2025-11-03 7.8 High
libxml2 before 2.12.10 and 2.13.x before 2.13.6 has a stack-based buffer overflow in xmlSnprintfElements in valid.c. To exploit this, DTD validation must occur for an untrusted document or untrusted DTD. NOTE: this is similar to CVE-2017-9047.
CVE-2024-25062 2 Redhat, Xmlsoft 4 Enterprise Linux, Jboss Core Services, Rhel Eus and 1 more 2025-11-03 7.5 High
An issue was discovered in libxml2 before 2.11.7 and 2.12.x before 2.12.5. When using the XML Reader interface with DTD validation and XInclude expansion enabled, processing crafted XML documents can lead to an xmlValidatePopElement use-after-free.
